Zinnia graceful (lat. Zinnia elegans) - herbaceous annual; a representative of the genus Zinnia of the family Asteraceae, and Asteraceae. It is one of the most popular species of the genus. It is actively used in decorative floriculture and horticulture in many countries, including the Russian Federation. In the United States of America, graceful zinnia is called the national flower culture. In nature, the species is found on the territory of Mexico, to be more precise in its southern regions. Typical habitats are rocky canyons.
Characteristics of culture
Zinnia graceful is represented by annual herbaceous plants up to 1.2 m in height with a straight, not too branched, rounded stem, pubescent over the entire surface with rather rigid translucent hairs. He, in turn, is endowed with numerous shoots, which end in an inflorescence called a basket.
The foliage is formed in large numbers, it is opposite, stalk-enveloping, elongated, whole-edged, rough, pubescent with hard hairs, ovoid, always endowed with pronounced parallel veins. It is important to note that the foliage is covered with hairs of two types: small and large. The latter are formed in smaller quantities, have a saber shape.
Graceful zinnia baskets have a blunt conical bed, which protrudes slightly towards the end of flowering. In size, the baskets reach 10-15 cm, and small-basket specimens with a diameter of up to 5 cm are also found in culture. Depending on the variety, baskets can be simple, semi-double and double.
The second and third are of particular interest to gardeners and florists. It is important to note that under unfavorable climatic conditions and inadequate care, the doubleness of the plants drops significantly. The basket of the species under consideration is endowed with a wrapper consisting of cupped and tiled leaves.
The basket consists of ligulate and tubular flowers. Reed can have a red, orange, wine color and other similar shades, except for those related to the blue and blue palette. They can have a white or yellow border. The tubular flowers are small, usually purple, orange, or yellow.
The flowering of graceful zinnia is observed during the summer, usually from the beginning of June until the onset of autumn frosts. Seeds ripen in large quantities in about 50-60 days after flowering. The seeds of the culture under consideration are rather large, flattened, wedge-shaped or ovoid, gray, brown or brown, rough, with tubercles and one rib.
