Black lentils (lat. Beluga lentils) - leguminous culture, often called "beluga" (for its external resemblance to black caviar).

Description

Black lentil is a relatively short annual plant. Quite interesting feathery leaves are conveniently located on its branched stems, and miniature flowers sit right in their axils. This culture has one very interesting feature: on it you can simultaneously contemplate both blossoming flowers and closed buds, and ripe beans are next to green ones on it.

Black lentil grains differ in truly miniature size: their dimensions do not exceed two to three millimeters. They are all very shiny and somewhat similar to black caviar.

Where grows

Black lentils were first bred in Canada, and then they gradually spread to the United States, as well as to India and a number of other Asian countries.

Application

Black lentils are excellent in taste, and boil them not so long - only about twenty minutes. And there is no need to pre-soak the grains. Moreover, this product can become a real decoration of any dish - even the simplest appetizer with the addition of black lentils begins to seem like an exquisite delicacy.
