Floribunda rose (lat. Rosa floribunda) - a rose obtained by crossing hybrid tea roses with polyanthus and muscat roses. This variety of roses was bred by the Dane Svend Poulsen in 1924. By the way, the word "floribunda" in translation from the Latin language means "abundant flowering roses."
Description
Floribunda rose is a hybrid of muscat, hybrid tea and luxurious polyanthus roses. The shape and size of its flowers are similar to the shape and size of hybrid tea roses, and in terms of the stability and nature of the inflorescences, these roses are as close as possible to polyanthus.
The height of the floribunda rose bushes ranges from thirty centimeters to one meter, but sometimes taller specimens can be found.
Floribunda rose flowers can be simple, semi-double or highly double, and their shape can vary from flat cupped to unique goblet. The diameter of the flowers ranges from four to eight centimeters, while all the flowers form inflorescences of unequal size.
Floribunda roses bloom much longer and more abundantly than hybrid tea varieties. In place of the fading buds, new ones instantly appear, and the flowering of beautiful flowers does not stop throughout the summer season. These roses also boast impressive resistance to a wide variety of diseases and excellent winter hardiness.
Usage
Most often, floribunda roses can be seen in decorative and landscape plantings, and some of their varieties are actively used in indoor culture, as well as for cutting or forcing. Such roses make wonderful borders and stunningly beautiful hedges, and they are also widely used in the design of garden paths. Floribunda roses feel pretty good when cut, which is why they are ideal for composing all kinds of festive and elegant wedding bouquets.
Growing and caring
Floribunda roses are very partial to warmth and bright sunlight, but they react to drafts extremely unimportantly, so these beautiful flowers must be protected from the slightest drafts. The most optimal time for planting these roses is considered to be May with June, however, residents of warm regions may well start planting them in September or even in mid-October. And the landing site must be necessarily calm and well-lit for most of the day. However, in no case should roses be in direct sunlight all day, otherwise they will slowly begin to fade. In order for floribunda roses to always delight with their lush, long flowering, it does not hurt to provide them with light shading.
An important role is played by the composition of the soil intended for planting floribunda roses. If the soil on the site is predominantly clayey, it must be enriched before planting beautiful flowers with river sand and good compost. It is quite acceptable to add superphosphate or bone meal to the soil mixture (forty grams of these funds will be enough for each hole). And the sandy soil is supplemented with humus, introduced in equal parts with clay. In addition, you can prepare a mix in advance of taken in equal shares of garden soil, clay, as well as humus and sand with peat, into which they additionally add a small handful of superphosphate and a little bit of bone meal. As for the size of the pits for planting floribunda roses, it should be about half a meter by half a meter, and the ideal depth of such pits would be thirty centimeters.
Throughout the growing season, floribunda roses need to provide abundant watering (at least ten liters of water for each bush), periodic formative pruning and proper fertilization. Loosening the soil and removing weeds should be done on time, and, of course, do not forget about mulching!
