White radish (lat. Raphanus) Is a herbaceous perennial belonging to the Cabbage family.

History

Mankind has been familiar with white radish since time immemorial. At the same time, the attitude towards it was always very ambiguous: some people considered it cheap food suitable only for slaves, while others called the white radish the food of the gods. Now, when everyone knows about the benefits of this valuable product, it is equally widely used both in medicine and in cooking.

Description

The average weight of rounded root crops of white radish is about 450 g. And thin, pale green peels hide juicy and starchy white flesh under them. As for the taste of root vegetables, it is quite spicy.

White radish has several varieties, which include daikon with the famous Chinese radish.

Currently, white radish is actively cultivated practically throughout Asia and Europe.

Application

In order to get the maximum benefit from white radish, they try to use it exclusively in its raw form. Most often, these delicious root vegetables are added to salads (it is especially good to use such salads in winter). Contraindications

The use of white radish should be abandoned for people with gastrointestinal diseases, as well as all suffering from heart and kidney ailments.

And pregnant women are absolutely contraindicated to use this product - the essential oils included in the white radish can quickly tone the uterus, which often leads not only to premature birth, but can also easily provoke a miscarriage.

Eating unreasonable amounts of white radish can lead to stomach pain, bloating, and irritation of the intestines.
