Characteristics of culture

Pleasant lily is a rather large bulbous perennial plant that rises more than 100 centimeters above the ground. The peduncle is smooth, long, dark green in color, densely equipped with foliage on top, remains practically naked at the base. The dark green leaves of the presented plant species can reach 15 centimeters in length and about 2 centimeters in width, they have a linear narrowed shape and a rough, pubescent texture below. The planting of foliage on the peduncle is regular, closely spaced, actively growing from the middle to the inflorescence.

Attractive drooping inflorescences reach 10 centimeters in diameter and are bright orange in color with dark, chaotically located blotches. On one stem, there can be from 3 to 15 inflorescences, collected in racemose panicles. Perianth petals have a strongly curved shape narrowed towards the edges. At the base of the petals there is a small pinkish stigma surrounded by a bundle of filiform filaments with orange-brown anthers.

Pleasant lily is the owner of a dense miniature ovoid bulb about 5 centimeters in diameter, completely covered with small white scaly plates. The fruit is a tricuspid capsule with dark brown small seeds in the shape of an irregular triangle. In Russia, the pleasant lily is used for landscaping garden plots, as well as an unpretentious inhabitant of rocky gardens. The plant looks great both in solo performance and in the company of other flower crops. The flowering period of the representative of the genus Lilia in question begins at the end of June, and can last about 20 days. After which the plant enters the phase of active fruiting.

Reproduction methods

Pleasant lily is represented by an unpretentious plant that is easy to care for and grow. The presented plant species can be propagated by vegetative methods: dividing the nest of bulbs, dividing baby bulbs, growing stem buds or bulbs, stem and deciduous cuttings. All of the above methods are easy to use and do not require much effort.

To obtain young growth, it is necessary to extract an adult 3-5-year-old plant from the ground and separate the young bulbs formed on the bottom of the original individual. In a healthy, fully developed plant, from 4 to 7 bulbous buds are formed in the nest. This procedure must be carried out at the beginning of autumn, after separation, young bulbs are individually planted in open ground, watered and fed. With full care of new plants, flowering can be expected as early as 3 years after planting.

reproduction using her daughter bulbs, which are formed in the underground part of the peduncle. To do this, it is necessary to remove the children from the base of the stem, without digging an adult plant out of the ground, and then plant the separated bulbs in a greenhouse with light nutritious soil to a depth of 4 - 7 centimeters. After three to four years, the grown plants can be transplanted into a common flower garden and expect a bright, abundant flowering. In the case when the plant begins to bloom ahead of time, it is advisable to remove the expanding buds, since the bulb has not yet matured and has not accumulated a sufficient amount of nutrients for further full development.
