Asperuga outstretched belongs to a family called borage, in the Latin version the name of this family is as follows: Boraginaceae Juss. Asperuga prostrate is an annual climbing plant, in length which can fluctuate in a fairly large interval: from ten centimeters to one meter. The stem of this plant is juicy and sharp-edged, the ribs at the stem of the plant are planted with rather strong hooked thorns directed downward. The stem itself is weak and sometimes weaves into other shrubs or fences, if any.

The leaves of the prostrate asperuga are delicate and spatulate-oblong, in length they can reach from one and a half centimeters to four, while the width of these leaves will be in the range from about four to fifteen millimeters. It is noteworthy that the flowering branches of the prostrate asperuga are spread out, and their length fluctuates between five and thirty centimeters. In the axils of the bracts, there are rather small and practically sessile flowers, the number of which will be equal to the number of bracts in the group, this number most often ranges from one to four. The corolla can be a little more than two millimeters long, this corolla is initially purple, and after that it is already blue. The bend of the rim in diameter is about one and a half millimeters, it will have blunt blades, and the nuts are about three millimeters long.

The blooming of the prostrate asperuga begins around April and continues until June. In nature, this plant can be found in Western Siberia, namely in all its regions, as well as in Central Asia and the Far East, namely in Primorye and in the Amur region. In addition, the prostrate asperuga is also found in the following regions of Eastern Siberia: Leno-Kolymsky, Daursky, Angara-Sayansky.

Under natural conditions, this plant grows in garbage places, sometimes along roads and vegetable gardens, as well as in crops and in the mountains, near cattle camps, and in addition, under rocks, the height of which above sea level will be about six hundred fifty-four thousand meters.

The healing properties of the prostrate asperuga

Asperuga prostrate has quite valuable medicinal properties. In this capacity, the leaves of this plant are used. Actually, such valuable medicinal properties of the plant are explained by the presence of such substances as saponins in its composition. It should be noted that this plant contributes to the manifestation of the so-called antibacterial activity. A decoction made from prostrate asperuga leaves can be used as an emollient and anti-inflammatory agent for diseases such as bronchial asthma and hypoxia. At the same time, in the Caucasus, prostrate asperuga leaves are often used as a spice in the preparation of a number of various dishes.

A decoction of prostrate asperuga leaves can be prepared as follows: for this you need to take three tablespoons of dry and crushed leaves of this plant at the rate of three glasses of water. Then you will need to boil the resulting mixture over a fairly low heat for about three to four minutes, after which the broth must be infused for one hour, and then it is recommended to carefully strain the broth from the asperuga leaves. In order to treat diseases such as bronchitis, bronchial asthma and pneumonia, it is recommended to take one third of a glass of such a decoction twice a day, while the decoction should be quite warm, and it should be drunk slowly and in small sips. This method of administration will provide even greater efficacy of such a drug.
