Asteriscus seaside It is also known under the following names: seaside chamomile and seaside aster. The flowering of this plant continues almost all summer, in natural conditions such a plant can most often be found in Greece, Portugal, in the Mediterranean countries and on the Canary Islands.

Asteriscus is a low plant, its height will not exceed thirty centimeters. This plant is creeping, its stems are woody and elongated, as well as rather narrow, the leaves on the stem are softly pubescent. The stems are endowed with flower baskets, which are painted in golden tones, and their diameter is about three centimeters, these baskets are located at the very ends of the shoots. The fruits are formed after the end of flowering and are shaped like single-seeded, non-popping nuts.

After flowering, the flowers are painted in rather unattractive tones, made in a brown shade. Therefore, it is recommended to cut such flowers so that the plant does not cease to delight with its attractive appearance. The plant grows on a fairly large scale in width, and in order to accelerate such growth, you should regularly pinch the shoots. Such care will cause branching and, as a result, the formation of new buds.

Asteriscus is a ground cover plant that is very prone to overgrowth, as mentioned above. Under incredibly favorable conditions, an asteriscus is able to cover an area of even more than sixty square centimeters.

Care and cultivation of an asteriscus

A plant such as the seaside asteriscus should be attributed to the family called Astrovye. This plant is distinguished by its great love for the sun's rays, but the asteriscus's resistance to drought is also very high. As for the degree of soil fertility, an average level is required for a favorable plant growth.

According to the cycle of its development, the plant is perennial, loves slightly acidic soils, the mechanical composition of which will be light. According to the method of reproduction, asteriscus should be attributed to plants, the reproduction of which occurs through cuttings.

It is possible, in principle, to cut a plant throughout the entire summer season, but experts recommend choosing the beginning of summer for this. The apical cuttings should be pinched, and their length should be from five to eight centimeters, after which the resulting cuttings should be rooted in a light nutritious soil. It is also very important that such rooting occurs rather quickly: it will take about two weeks approximately. Do not forget that every two weeks, young plants need regular feeding. Those plants that have been grown from such cuttings will be able to bloom with proper care in two and a half months. The distance between plants should be at least fifteen centimeters.

Asteriscus is quite resistant to cold temperatures and cold snaps. However, in the open field, this plant is not able to spend the winter period of time.

Given the fact that reproduction takes place by means of cuttings, it will be necessary to preserve the mother plants in winter, and otherwise you will have to acquire new seedlings every season. The plant should spend the winter period in a cool room, where the necessary light of the asteriscus is provided. In addition, the plant can be grown in a cold greenhouse, while the temperature should not drop below eight degrees. At this time, the plant needs a fairly moderate watering.

Regular feeding will help you get an incredibly attractive plant that will always delight the eyes. Asteriscus is able to create amazingly beautiful landscape compositions or perform in a single performance.
