Armeria alpine (lat. Armeria alpina) - a flowering plant; a representative of the genus Armeria of the Pig family. In nature, the plant is found in European countries. Armeria alpine is represented by perennial herbaceous plants, which form lush dense cushions in the process of growth, which reach 30-35 cm in diameter and 10-15 cm in height. The foliage of the species under consideration is linear, lanceolate, over 10 cm long, collected in a basal rosette. The flowers are small, but very unusual, depending on the varietal accessory, they can have pale pink, carmine, red and white colors. The basis of the species gives pink flowers. The flowers are collected in capitate inflorescences that develop from the axils. They are characterized by very long peduncles, devoid of foliage.

Growing features
Most often, Alpine Armeria is propagated by seed through seedlings or directly into open ground in the fall. In autumn, sowing is carried out in previously prepared ridges, previously fertilized with mineral and organic fertilizers. Thus, the seeds undergo natural stratification. In the spring, sowing is carried out in seedling boxes. Usually this manipulation is carried out in early March, in the southern regions - in mid-February. When sowing, seeds are not deeply planted, they are scattered over the soil and sprinkled with a thin layer of soil. Before spring sowing, the seeds are cold stratified.
Planting seedlings in open ground is carried out not earlier than the end of May - beginning of June, when the threat of night frosts has passed. Landing is carried out in a well-lit area, protected from cold northerly winds and accumulation of precipitation. The soil, in turn, should be nutritious, loose, light, slightly acidic, excellent if it contains a little coarse sand. It is not recommended to plant Alpine armeria in areas with alkaline and strongly acidic soil, as well as soil that contains a lot of lime.
It is preferable to prepare the ridges for disembarkation in a month. The soil must be dug up properly, an additional rake must be taken, mineral and organic fertilizers must be applied (the latter are only rotted, fresh manure cannot be used). Young plants should be planted at a distance of 25-40 cm from each other. It is impossible to plant very close (at a distance of less than 10 cm), because in the process of growth they will gain a lush mass. If you neglect this rule, the plants will develop worse and bloom poorly, as they will interfere with each other as they grow.
When planting, the root collar of the plant is not buried. After planting, the soil is poured and tamped, after which watering is carried out. Subsequently, watering is carried out daily for 2-3 weeks. Armeria grown by the seed method will come into bloom only in the second year. To activate growth and achieve abundant flowering in the second year, it is imperative to feed. Optimally 2-3 top dressing per season, depending on the condition of the soil. Poor soils can be fed four times.
