People are accustomed to looking for happiness outside themselves, forgetting the natural truth that happiness is always near, because it is an internal state of mind. We are not accustomed to trusting our eternal soul. It is much easier to buy the Dracaena plant in the store, which is guaranteed to bring happiness to the house
Dracaena in nature
Botanists cannot decide in any way with the attribution of this exotic plant to a specific family. Dracaena was part of the Agave family, then the Dracene family, and today it is the Asparagus family, although it does not look very much like the asparagus we know.
For example, on the Socotra archipelago, which is located in the Arabian Sea, the cinnabar-red Dracaena trees, similar to giant mushrooms with a green cap, reach ten meters in height and are a symbol of the archipelago. Red sap flows through the "veins" of the tree, which has been used by people for healing and cosmetic purposes for a long time.
We are attracted by more modest dracaena, who will not be cramped in the room. They have lignified stems with thin, lanceolate leaves that can grow all over the stem or in bright, dense bunches.
Varieties of decorative dracaena
•
Dracaena unbent (Dracena reflexa) or
pleomele bent (Pleomele reflexa) - this beauty in nature can reach 20 meters in height, but on our windowsills it is more modest and graceful. Its evergreen lanceolate thin leaves 3 cm wide and up to 30 cm long can be rich dark green, or decorated with yellow or light green stripes.
Dracaena bent has varieties with poetic names, the leaves of which have stripes: "Indian song" (with a yellow border around the edge); "Jamaican Song" (bright green leaves with light green stripes on the back). There is a variety with green, thin, long leaves, which is called "Dracaena narrow-leaved".
•
Dracaena deremenskaya (Dracena deremensis) - has dense, short, dark green leaves. There are varieties with leaves edged with a white, yellow or light green border: "White", "Yellow", "Green".
•
Dracaena bordered (Dracena marginata) - variegated, thin and straight leaves turn the plant into a multi-colored decoration.
•
Dracaena Sander (Dracena sanderiana) - the compactness of the plant is very convenient when composing compositions. Numerous dracaena leaves have a white or ivory ornament on a basic green background.
•
Dracaena fragrant (Dracena fragrans) - this fragrant dracaena is called the "Plant of Happiness". Differs in linear leaves of dark green or variegated color and fragrant flowers.
Growing
Dracaena loves places that are lit, but without direct sunlight.
The soil can be any, but well-drained. In the summer period, periodically combine watering with fertilizing with liquid fertilizer. A couple of times a week, dracaena is watered abundantly in summer, in winter, watering is less frequent to maintain soil moisture. Dracaena prefer high humidity, and therefore do not be lazy to refresh the leaves with water a couple of times a week.
To maintain the appearance, it is necessary to wipe the leaves with a damp cloth. The exposed trunk can be covered by planting a lower plant in the same pot, or by using the trunk and crown as propagation cuttings.
Reproduction
Apical cuttings or stem shoots are rooted in early spring. In varieties with a "trunk", the stem is cut into pieces, each of which must have at least one shoot.
For successful rooting, growth stimulants are used - phytohormones.
A soil mixture for cuttings is prepared from an equal amount of peat and sand.
Transfer
Once every 2-3 years, the dracaena should be transplanted into a larger pot, since the overgrown roots become cramped in the old pot.

Happiness Is Not In Meters
Small-sized housing can be more comfortable and functional than a full-size one. If there is a shortage of meters, something needs to be changed, added, streamlined and there will be more space. Let's talk about the rules and techniques of experienced designers that will help expand the space
Indoor Flowers That Bring Happiness
Our favorite houseplants are living creatures, our pets are the same, which, like pets, respond to us with kind actions and good care with kindness. You should not have indoor flowers just because they are in fashion or because you would like to achieve some results with their help. Then the plant is unlikely to help you. They cannot stand indifference. But if you love them with all your heart, then they will answer you a hundredfold. For example, they will give you good luck, family well-being, new love
Onion Happiness
Onions are perhaps one of the most frequently used in our kitchen: they cook many dishes with them, boil them, fry them, cut them into salads, and even eat them just like that, without any heat treatment. Therefore, every self-respecting summer resident on his six hundred square meters must have a bed with onions. Feathers are cut in summer, bulbs are eaten in winter. Everything is in the business, nothing is lost. Even the husk can be adapted for coloring eggs or as an excellent natural fertilizer for the garden. But how do you get a good harvest of onions?
