Procurement of natural materials - in floristry, literally any item can be important, the purpose of which you did not even know about before. Natural materials will help create a range of original, vibrant and so charming compositions.

In the summer, you can not only relax, but you should also think about collecting unusual materials that will be useful for creating a variety of beautiful floristic compositions.

What materials can be procured?

First of all, it is worth noting that for each plant and flower there is a certain period of time when it is best to collect it, in order to subsequently dry it.

In the spring, you should prepare twigs with pussy willow buds or pansies. We used to call the tricolor violet pansies, these wonderful flowers have the brightest petals, which makes them look like real fabulous flowers, from childhood fantasies. After these flowers are dry, they will retain their bright and cheerful shades for a long time, which favorably distinguishes pansies from most spring flowers and plants.

It is best to deal with the procurement of natural materials for floristry in the summer. After all, this time of the year is especially rich in a great variety of plants, flowers, berries. Many of them are supplied with unusual seeds, thorns, thorns, scales and various other pleasant gifts for the florist.

In autumn, it is best to go for a walk in the forest, because it is these forest resources that are of the greatest value this season of the year. In the forest, you can become the proud owner of unusual driftwood and roots, twigs and seeds.

How to collect materials correctly?

It should be noted that there are some general recommendations that will allow you to collect the highest quality natural materials that will delight you, forming beautiful crafts and compositions. Plants should only be harvested in dry weather and after the dew has evaporated. All flowers and herbs must be fresh: they should not be placed in water before drying.

All branches must be collected in bunches, which are suspended for two weeks in a well-ventilated dark place. In the same way, you can dry not only twigs, but roses and dried flowers.

For other types of leaves and flowers, so-called press drying is suitable. For all leaves, it is necessary to cut off the petioles beforehand. Separate materials can be shifted between themselves by newspapers. Many experts recommend changing these newspapers from time to time. Flowers should be under such pressure for at least five days.

In this case, they do a little differently with flowers. The petals should be separated from the pedicels, and they must be dried separately from each other. Flowers can be arranged on paper, and for them to dry better, you need to ensure the flow of air. You can cover the flowers and paper with plywood, on which the load is placed. The weight of the shipment will depend on the type of plants or flowers selected.

There is another way of harvesting natural materials: they are dried in semolina or in sand. For this method, cardboard boxes are required, which are half filled with cereals or sand, and then natural materials are put there, after which the box is completely filled with cereals. This container is closed with a lid to keep the entire contents dry. This will take at least two weeks to dry.

You can even use cardboard boxes for chocolates to store prepared natural materials. It is recommended to keep only the same plants or flowers in one place.

As for roses, they can also be dried hanging. Moreover, such flowers should not be overly open, in this case, the petals do not crumble down. It should be borne in mind that subsequently the color of the roses will change: either it will become lighter, or it will darken by one or even two tones.

There is also a way to quickly dry the leaves. To do this, you need to spread the paper, then put the leaves themselves on it, after which there is another layer of paper. This mass is ironed with a hot iron, after which the leaves are completely ready for use in floristic compositions.
