Interesting shrubs for site design

Thinking over the design of your site, you need to take care of the design. It is not necessary to plant flowers, designers recommend using low-growing shrubs. Let's talk about spirea, lavender and blueberries

Lavender

This shrub has a well-developed root system. There is practically no single trunk. The branches develop directly from the root, quickly lignify and are covered with a grayish-brown bark. The height of an adult bush does not exceed 40 cm. Long leaves (6 cm), the width of which does not exceed 5 mm, give an unusual appearance. Flowers are collected in spike-shaped corollas of various shades, ranging from pale purple to lilac and deep purple. Bushes bloom at the age of two.

Lavender is decorative and healthy. Many people know that lavender repels moths and gives the laundry a pleasant scent. Its scent has a calming effect and can help with insomnia. Essential oil is obtained from the inflorescences; it is used in perfumery and medicine. This oil heals burns and wounds, alcohol solution helps with rheumatism. You can simply brew a tea from flowers and leaves, which will eliminate arrhythmias and help with neurasthenia. Lavender is a good seasoning for salads, soups, sauces and main courses.

Lavender care

Lavender seeds are sown before winter. In spring, sprouts that have reached 10 cm are planted in a chosen place with intervals of up to 60 cm between plants. You should know that the planting site should be sufficiently illuminated by the sun, and it is preferable to choose alkaline soil. If your land is acidic on your site, you should first lime it. Before planting plants, you need to fertilize the soil with compost, humus and add sand.

For the good development of shrubs, spring feeding is carried out with nitrogenous fertilizers (a bucket of water + 1 tablespoon of urea). Re-feed the plants as soon as flowering begins. For a bucket of water - 2 tbsp. spoons of any organic fertilizer. A large watering can is poured onto each bush. The collection of raw materials falls on the beginning of August. For drying, peduncles are suitable, the length of which is 12 cm. Fruit ripening takes place in September, and at the same time the seeds are collected for sowing.

This shrub has many varieties. When using spirea, you can achieve an interesting effect in the design of the track, thanks to the abundant flowering and decorative foliage. The height of the bushes can vary greatly, since the smallest varieties do not exceed 60 cm, and the tall ones reach 3 meters.

Spiraea subspecies differ in the frequency of flowering, so a competent selection can make your site bloom for the whole summer. They perfectly tolerate haircuts and are suitable for creating the most fantastic shapes and forms. Many types of spirits are frost-resistant, do not require frequent watering and quickly increase the volume of the crown. They reproduce best by dividing the bush.

Ornamental spirea bushes are valued for their unpretentiousness. In order to obtain abundant flowering, moist, not depleted soil and sunny areas are recommended. You need to feed twice a season. The first feeding is at the end of spring (nitrophoska with organic matter), the second is in June (sodium humate + trace elements). Each bush is watered with a mixture of fertilizers at the rate of 15 liters per plant.

Garden blueberry

This fruit shrub is rarely found in summer cottages, although it is quite decorative and unpretentious. It thrives on wastelands where other cultures do not survive. The height of the plants is different - it depends on the variety 50-150 cm.

Blueberries can bear fruit for half a century, and the first crop appears in the fourth year. Ripe bunches of berries do not crumble for a long time and extend the possibility of harvesting. The fruits have a pleasant sour taste due to the presence of vitamin C. Suitable for preserves, jams and compotes.

Blueberry care

The root system of blueberries is fibrous, so the soil must be loosened regularly, peat or sawdust must be added. In the heat, the plants are watered with a spray of water, and during flowering - at the root. Top dressing is carried out twice in the summer. The first time before flowering, adding 1 tbsp of water to the bucket. spoon of sodium and potassium humate. The second time during fruit setting (10 l of water + 1 tbsp. Spoon of nitrophoska).

Shrubs are pruned from the fifth year of growth. During this period, old, dried or diseased branches are removed. In the following seasons, branches are cut that do not bear fruit. Rejuvenate plants with root shoots.
