The advantages of quail production

Meat and eggs are highly valued by nutritionists, chefs and doctors. The productivity of one quail is 125-300 eggs / year. During this time, he will eat 10 kg of feed. Quail eggs are in demand in the treatment of the gastrointestinal tract, stomach ulcers, gastritis. They are used for liver problems, for allergies. They increase hemoglobin, bring relief from diabetes mellitus, and have a rejuvenating effect. Use is prescribed in any form: cooking, frying, inclusion in salads. Guests are treated to pickled quail eggs.

The meat is suitable for a variety of dishes, including exotic ones. In Russia, it is more often cooked on charcoal, used for aspic or fried with cherries in a pan. Quail broths are healthy and tasty.

Today, quail breeding is beginning to compete with chickens. A small bird, but fast-growing, it fully provides the family with natural products. For maintenance, you do not need to build a chicken coop, since 50 layers are quietly placed on 1 m2, giving 35-48 eggs daily.

Features of quail breeding

You can keep it anywhere on your garden plot. If you live in a city, use a loggia or storage room. For beginner amateur poultry breeders, it is better to purchase adult quails.

Quail care is simple and not cumbersome. For efficient production, you need a little: organize a place (plastic box / cage), correctly place drinkers, feeders. It is important to remember that a domesticated bird will not incubate eggs. If you want to get offspring, it is better to purchase an incubator. Eggs are used fresh or laid for a week. The laying lasts 17 days, hatching and hatching of the chick takes 4-6 hours. Young animals are kept in cages / brooders or in a box (wood, cardboard, preferably plastic, metal).

At first, the quail will need to provide a normal heat regime (+ 20 … + 22) and exclude hypothermia. It is much easier with feed than with chickens. Quail is unpretentious and grows well on crushed grain. So there is no need for compound feed. You need to feed twice a day or divide the food into three times.

Success factors

Being the smallest representative of the Fazanov family, the Chicken detachment, an adult quail weighs 160-400 g. The parameters depend on the breed, sex and quality of feeding. Females are usually used to produce eggs for a year, then intensively fed and slaughtered. At home, the process is divided into three parts:

• raising chicks - 35 days;

• intensive egg-laying - 1 year;

• fattening before slaughter.

Quail ration

The basis of food is crushed grain (corn, wheat). To increase egg production, feed or other ingredients are added: sunflower / soybean meal, bone / fish meal, boiled vegetables. Fine sand is required for digestion.

The daily food intake for the female is 20-30 g, for the male - 18. Accordingly, one individual eats about a kilogram until full maturity. Per year - 10 kg.

Comfortable conditions

In cramped conditions, the hen will lay eggs unstably. Therefore, to increase collection, the number of females in the cage is reduced. The lighting is set moderate: one lamp is enough for a small room (40 Wx15 m2). From the bright light, the quails appear aggression - they begin to peck.

Adults do not need much warmth, and continue to rush when the room is +6, although it is recommended not to decrease below +15. In frosty weather, heating of the room is imperative. Monthly chicks are divided by sex (feather color near the eyes) and seated in different cages. For mating, it is enough for 15 minutes - after three days, plant it with the males.

Quail cage size

The minimum area for a production herd of 50 animals is 75x120 cm with a cage height of 20x25. Space-saving multi-tiered arrangement of three small cell sections: 45x45. They are installed on legs (70 cm from the floor), between them 28x30 cm. These are ideal conditions for layers and fattening for meat.
