Description of golden rhododendron

Golden rhododendron is known under the popular names black mane, kashkara, kashkarnik and pyandarva. Golden rhododendron is an evergreen shrub that can grow up to eighty centimeters high. Such a plant will be endowed with dark brown bark and almost creeping branches. The leaves of the golden rhododendron are thick, whole-edged, short-petiolate, leathery and bare on both sides. From above, such leaves of this plant will be shiny and dark green, while from below they are paler, obovate or long-elliptical. At the base, the leaves will be wedge-shaped, they are endowed with reticulated veins or an edge turned down, the length of such leaves will be about three and a half to seven centimeters, and the width turns out to be equal to one to two and a half centimeters.

The flowers of this plant will be broadly bell-shaped and large, they are painted in light yellow tones, and the diameter of such flowers reaches three to five centimeters. Such flowers of golden rhododendron will be collected in about five to ten pieces in umbrella-shaped inflorescences at the very ends of the branches. The fruit of this plant is a five-nested oblong box, which at first is reddish-woolly, and then becomes almost smooth. The seeds of the golden rhododendron will be numerous and rather small in size.

The flowering of this plant occurs in the period from May to June, while the fruits ripen from July to August. Under natural conditions, golden rhododendron is found in the Far East, the Eastern Arctic, Eastern Siberia and the Altai region of Western Siberia. For growth, this plant prefers the upper part of the forest belt, subalpine and alpine meadows. It is noteworthy that quite often the golden rhododendron will form thickets.

Description of the medicinal properties of golden rhododendron

Golden rhododendron is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. Grass includes flowers, stems and leaves. The presence of such valuable healing properties is recommended to be explained by the content of tannins, sitosterol, triterpenoids, vitamin C, essential oil, silver, lead, copper, barium, glycosides, aluminum and manganese in the leaves of this plant.

It has been proven that the drugs created on the basis of this plant have the ability to increase urine output, increase the speed of blood flow, reduce shortness of breath, normalize the work of the heart, and contribute to the disappearance of edema. In addition, the infusion, tincture and liquid extract of rhododendron golden will reduce venous pressure and have a pronounced effect on the heart. The plant is endowed with a rather strong bactericidal effect against staphylococci, pathogenic intestinal flora and streptococci. Preparations based on golden rhododendron are effective in the treatment of various diseases of the oral mucosa, including gingivitis and stomatitis. However, one should not forget that such drugs are endowed with very high toxicity.

Traditional medicine uses tinctures based on the stems and leaves of this plant for insomnia, gout, rheumatism, dropsy, irritability, epilepsy, headache, tuberculosis, female diseases and fever.
