Limonium also known as statice and kermek. This plant should be classified as an ornamental perennial. It should be noted that this plant is particularly unpretentious in cultivation, and many gardeners prefer limonium due to its high degree of decorativeness.

Description of limonium

It is noteworthy that the height of this plant can fluctuate between thirty and one hundred centimeters. The height of limonium is in direct proportion to the variety of this plant itself. The flowers of the plant are collected in inflorescences, which can be both spherical and corymbose. As for the very color of limonium flowers, they can be either yellow and green, or pink, and purple, and white. The flowering of this plant is not only quite long, but also very abundant. It should be noted that this plant will look great in bouquets, and besides this limonium is very often included in the number of dry compositions.

Description of the features of the care and cultivation of limonium

As for the choice of the light regime, this plant is able to thrive exclusively in sunny areas. It is noteworthy that even if the plant is placed in a small shade, it will literally instantly lose all its amazing decorative effect. It is important to remember that limonium is not particularly demanding on soil soil, however, experts recommend giving preference to light soils, which will also be fairly well drained. Watering the plant should be provided only on especially hot days, while watering must be carried out under the root of limonium. In other words: this plant does not particularly need watering, in this regard, limonium will also have a very high degree of drought tolerance.

This plant will need to be fed only once: such measures must be taken even when limonium is planted. However, in the event that it is planned to grow this plant on poor soils, regular feeding should be provided with complex mineral fertilizers. Such feeding is necessary for the plant twice a month throughout the entire period of both active growth and flowering. It is important to note that there is no need for limonium to provide shelter during the winter.

Reproduction of limonium

Reproduction of this plant can occur by means of seeds, while it is recommended to plant seeds for seedlings in the month of March. Seeds need to be germinated in the light month, and the temperature should be about eighteen to twenty-two degrees. The seeds should be placed under glass or under a film. After the seedlings grow up, they will need to be dived into separate pots. Already in May, the seedlings of this plant must be planted in open ground: this should be done only when the threat of frost has completely passed. In addition, seedlings can be planted in the ground after preliminary hardening. As already mentioned, mineral complex fertilizers should be applied to the soil before planting seedlings. The distance between the plants should be about twenty-five centimeters, while the limonium root rosette should be above the ground surface.

It should be noted that sometimes it is possible to sow seeds directly into open ground. This can be done in the month of April, when the soil has already warmed up enough. However, it is worth noting that in this case, the limonium bloom will begin a little later.

It is important to remember that limonium is sometimes susceptible to aphid attacks. Due to excess moisture, rot may occur.
