The euphorbia sungazer is an annual herb that will fluctuate in height between ten and fifty centimeters. Such a plant is sparsely hairy, especially at the top, but it can be glabrous. The root of the milkweed sungazer is fusiform and slender. Stems on the roots are in the number from one to thirty, their thickness will be about one to four millimeters, they can be either spreading or erect.

The stem leaves of this plant are short-petiolate and alternate, they can be both spatulate and obovate, their length is eight to twenty-eight millimeters, and the width will be about five to thirteen millimeters. There will be only five apical peduncles of the milkweed sungazer, their length will be from half a centimeter to four centimeters, and at the end such peduncles are tripartite. The glass of this plant is bell-shaped, its diameter will be about one and a half to two and a half centimeters, on the outside such a glass will be naked, but inside it will be slightly fluffy. The seed of the sungazer milkweed is colored brown and will be ovoid.

The flowering of this plant occurs in the period from April to May. Under natural conditions, this plant is found in the Caucasus, Central Asia, Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine, the southern part of Scandinavia, Central Europe, India, Pakistan, Japan, Iran, Armenia, the Balkan Peninsula, as well as in all regions of the European part of Russia, for the only exception is the Zavolzhsky, Dvinsko-Pechora and Karelo-Murmansk regions. For growth, this plant prefers vegetable gardens, fallow lands, garbage places, ditches, roadsides and sometimes crops. It is noteworthy that this plant is poisonous, and its milky juice can cause abscesses on the skin, infect the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, nasal cavity and eyes.

Description of the medicinal properties of milkweed sungazer

The euphorbia sungazer is endowed with very valuable medicinal properties, while for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the herb of this plant, milky juice, resin and roots. Grass includes flowers, leaves and stems. It is recommended to procure such raw materials in the spring and summer. To do this, you will need to cut the grass, dry it and chop it.

The presence of such valuable medicinal properties should be explained by the content of diterpenoids, fructose, maltose, succinic acid, glucose, rubber, steroids, flavonoids and phenolcarboxylic acids in this plant. Steroids will be present in the milky juice, while quercetin, quercitrin and gums will be present in the roots.

Milk sungazer is endowed with a very effective bactericidal, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, anthelmintic, emetic, laxative and analgesic effect. An infusion prepared on the basis of the herb of this plant is recommended for use as an antineoplastic agent, while the broth is used externally for furunculosis.

As for traditional medicine, a decoction of milkweed herb is quite widely used here, which is used for rheumatism, anthrax, malignant tumors, and also as a strong aphrodisiac. A decoction based on the aerial part of this plant is recommended for use in syphilis.
