This culture is one of the perennial plants, in total there are about fifteen species of this plant in the genus, however, according to some sources, the number of such species reaches seventy. However, only a few varieties of this plant are popular. It should be noted that lungwort is endowed with resistance to shade, as well as to frost. The flowering of this plant begins quite early, and its foliage is especially decorative. Among other things, lungwort also has valuable medicinal properties and is one of the honey plants. The height of this plant will not exceed thirty centimeters.

Types of lungwort

Lungwort medicinal has flowers of pink or white color, this plant is quite widespread in folk medicine. Sugar lungwort can be endowed with both blue and pink and red flowers. This type of plant has leaves on which there are many silvery spots and blotches.

The red lungwort will grow quite quickly, the flowers are painted in red tones, while the leaves are not endowed with spots, as is typical of all other species of this plant.

The Filyar's lungwort is a rather rare species, which is characterized by very abundant flowering, and its amazingly beautiful flowers will be painted in red tones.

Description of the features of care and cultivation of lungwort

It is recommended to grow this plant in the shade, where it is always especially cool. It should be noted that lungwort is not a particularly demanding plant to care for, however, it is recommended to select loose or fertile soils. As for watering, in no case should excessive moisture be allowed, otherwise the condition of the plant can deteriorate extremely dramatically. In this case, the drying of the soil should not be allowed. As for dressings, they should be carried out with the help of mineral fertilizers. Such top dressing is necessary for the lungwort in the middle of the summer period, as well as even when the growth of new leaves begins. It is noteworthy that feeding with organic fertilizers will be needed much more often.

After the end of the flowering period occurs, it is necessary to cut off both the peduncle and the leaves of this plant at the root. In the event that the peduncle and leaves are broken off, there is a high probability of damage to the renewal buds. Those shoots that grow quite strongly must be cut down with a shovel. It is noteworthy that in the same place this plant can grow up to thirty years or even more. For the winter period of planting time should be mulched.

It should be noted that this plant is endowed with an amazing ability to change the color of flowers. After pollination occurs, the color will change from pink to blue.

Reproduction of lungwort

Reproduction of this plant can occur by dividing the bush, and also with the help of seeds. As for the division, this procedure should be carried out from early spring to the month of August. At the same time, each part must be endowed with at least one resume point. Before planting, the roots of the delenok should be cut, after which the plants must be planted in the ground and watered. The distance between plantings should be about twenty five to thirty centimeters. After the plants are planted, it is required to mulch the soil around the new lungwort. Reproduction by dividing the bush should not be done often, because the bush can fall apart due to the fact that the rhizome will die off. If this happens, then you need to dig up a lungwort bush, perform its division and transplant.
