River Mayaka (lat. Mayaca fluviatilis) - an aquatic plant from the Mayak family.

Description

River maiaca is an aquatic plant that reaches forty centimeters in height and is endowed with creeping rhizomes and delicate long stems. All rhizomes of this plant are densely covered with a huge number of leaf buds, and bizarre lashes, the length of which often reach half a meter, extend from them. In general, the root system of the river Mayaka is rather poorly developed and is formed by the lobes of tiny and thin roots located separately. And the needle-like leaves of the plant are characterized by amazing silvery shades and a pleasant light green color.

River Majaka blooms with extremely pretty flowers, painted in pale lilac shades.

Where grows

Most often, you can meet the river Mayaka in the North American reservoirs, which are characterized by a rather weak current.

Usage

River mayaka is ideal for decorating aquariums - the dense thickets formed by it in the background of aquariums look incredibly impressive. Moreover, this plant boasts a fairly uniform growth throughout all seasons.

Growing and caring

River Mayaka will feel best in tropical aquarium vessels. And in moderately warm aquariums, she will also delight with very good growth. Some people grow this plant in greenhouses, paludariums or aquaterrariums. By the way, the river Mayaka cultivated in humid greenhouses begins to creep like a carpet and form very dense, low thickets.

The best temperature regime for growing river Mayaka will be the range from twenty-two to twenty-eight degrees. And the water hardness should ideally be less than six degrees, since higher values can provoke a significant slowdown in the growth of this beautiful aquatic inhabitant. As for the reaction of water, it must be slightly acidic or neutral.

To ensure the most comfortable development of the river mayake, it is important to take care of a slight circulation of clean water in the aquarium. In addition, the water needs to be filtered and changed from time to time (the change is done up to a quarter of the total volume). If you want to accelerate the growth of the river mayaka, it is positioned so that it is under the direct influence of the water flow coming from the filter.

The nature of the soil also plays an important role in the full development of this amazing aquatic plant, even despite its underdeveloped root system. The most suitable substrate for the comfort of the river mayaka will be sand - it is scattered over the aquarium in a layer of three to four centimeters. In addition, the soil should be properly silted and enriched with all kinds of nutrient compounds. If the river mayaka is planned to be grown in a greenhouse, it is important to take care of the presence of soil from the sod land mixed with sand. This aquatic beauty does not need feeding, if it is not planned to move it to other reservoirs - more than enough for it will be natural siltation. If its transfer to other bodies of water is nevertheless planned, then the plant needs to be regularly fed with carbon dioxide and all kinds of macro- and microelements.

River Mayaka reproduces in a vegetative way - in order to get new colorful thickets, it is quite enough to separate several stems. Cut young shoots should be planted in new areas, slightly pressing them with pebbles.

In the care of the Mayaka, the river is extremely unpretentious, however, when growing it, it will not hurt to make sure that the neighboring plants do not shade this water beauty. From time to time, old specimens need to be replaced with new young shoots, and too dense thickets of the river Mayaka should be systematically thinned out.
