Meyer's centaury is an annual, bare, light green plant that ranges in height between ten and forty centimeters. The stems of this plant are tetrahedral, above or below the middle, such stems will be branching. Stem leaves will be ovoid or oblong-linear, they are vaguely three-incised and pointed, at the apex of the inflorescence they can be either slightly elongated or very narrow. The inflorescence of Meyer's centaury is endowed with several spread-out pedicels. The flowers of this plant are painted in white tones. The fruit of the centaury meyer is an almost unilocular capsule, which will also be oblong-linear. The seeds of this plant are very small, they are irregularly rounded in shape and colored in dark brown tones.

The flowering of the centaury meier falls on the period from May to October. In natural conditions, the plant is found in the Altai region of Western Siberia, in the Black Sea region in Ukraine, in Central Asia, as well as in the Crimea and in the following regions of the European part of Russia: in the Black Sea region, the Volga region and in the Lower Don region. In terms of general distribution, the plant can be seen in Manchuria and Northwest China. For growth, the plant prefers flooded meadows, forest glades, river floodplains, forest edges, the outskirts of bogs, solonetzic soil and thickets of shrubs.

Description of the medicinal properties of Meyer's centaury

Meyer's centaury is endowed with quite valuable healing properties, while for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the herb of this plant, which should be harvested during the flowering of the plant. Grass includes stems, leaves and flowers.

Preparations based on this plant are able to improve appetite and enhance the activity of the gastrointestinal tract, and will also lower the acidity of gastric juice and improve digestion. Such drugs have a carminative, mild laxative, choleretic, wound healing, analgesic and antiseptic effect.

As for traditional medicine, here Meyer's centaury is used for various gastrointestinal diseases: for heartburn, gastritis and gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer with increased secretion of gastric juice, as well as in the absence of appetite, dysentery, flatulence, dyspepsia, scrofula, vomiting, diseases of the kidneys, liver, gallbladder. The plant is also used for various heart diseases, diabetes mellitus, in order to improve blood circulation, and also as a restorative and tonic for numerous skin diseases and after severe illnesses.

A decoction made from ten to fifteen grams of Meyer's centaury herb is used for hepatitis, headaches, fever, inflammation of the tonsils, toothache and inflammation of the gallbladder.

To improve appetite and for various gastrointestinal diseases, you should use the following remedy based on this plant: for the preparation of such a remedy, take fifteen grams of chopped Meyer centaury herb and pour a glass of boiling water. The resulting mixture is infused for thirty minutes, and then filtered and honey or sugar is added to taste. Take such a remedy three times a day, a tablespoon half an hour before the start of a meal.
