Description of goldenrod

Goldenrod is an amazingly beautiful plant that is endowed with very lush panicle inflorescences, which will be bright yellow in color. It is noteworthy that, depending on the variety of goldenrod, the color of the plant can vary: from a pale yellow hue to a rich yellow color. In height, this plant can even reach more than one meter. It is noteworthy that goldenrod is also an excellent honey plant. Quite often, this plant can be found in the wild. Goldenrod looks great in bouquets, in addition, such a plant can also be used as a dried flower, for which you need to cut and then dry the plant. It is noteworthy that the goldenrod will look very elegant both in group plantings and in singles.

There are several types of goldenrod: Canadian goldenrod, common and hybrid. Canadian goldenrod in height can reach about sixty centimeters, and the flowering of this plant will last for about a month or a month and a half. An ordinary goldenrod can grow even more than one meter in height; such a plant is also endowed with valuable medicinal properties. The hybrid goldenrod is even more than one and a half meters high.

Care and cultivation of goldenrod

Goldenrod is not particularly demanding in care, however, for the most favorable development of this plant, it will be necessary to plant plants in sunny areas. However, goldenrod can grow in shady areas as well. The plant is not demanding on the soil, however, moist and heavy soils will be the best solution, however, there should be no stagnant water on such soils. Watering the goldenrod should not be so often; watering is necessary for the plant only on especially hot and dry days. It is noteworthy that this plant can do without fertilizing and watering. However, if you want, it is permissible to apply organic fertilizers both in the spring and in the fall. Compost can also be used as organic fertilizer. In the autumn period, it will be necessary to cut off the aerial part of the plant, while leaving the hemp about ten to fifteen centimeters. The plant should not be covered in winter because goldenrod is very resistant to winter temperatures.

Breeding goldenrod

Reproduction of goldenrod occurs through both seeds and offspring, and by dividing the bush. Sowing seeds should be carried out directly into open ground immediately after collecting the seeds; it is also permissible to sow seeds in the spring period, when the soil is already warming up. the plant is able to reproduce and self-sowing, however, for this reason, the plant can also act as a weed. For this reason, it is recommended to always monitor the growth process of this plant.

However, most often goldenrod breeding occurs by dividing the bush. Such reproduction, as well as reproduction by means of offspring, should be performed in the spring. It is noteworthy that the division of the bush should be done every three to five years. The offspring and delenki must be planted immediately in a permanent place, and organic fertilizers will need to be applied to the soil before planting. After planting has been carried out, at first, regular watering of the plant should be ensured.

As for diseases and pests, goldenrod can be called a fairly resistant plant. However, sometimes goldenrod can be attacked by powdery mildew.
