Large-flowered larkspur is a herbaceous perennial plant, the height of which fluctuates between fifteen and seventy centimeters. The stem of this plant at the top will be more or less branched, and it is also pubescent with short, appressed hairs. In outline, the leaves will be broad-bud-shaped, their length can reach ten centimeters, and their width will not exceed fifteen centimeters. The leaves will be double-toed, they are endowed with narrow linear segments, as well as short-pubescent on both sides. The diameter of the flowers is one to two centimeters, they are oblong in shape and short pubescent outside, such flowers will be dark blue in color.

Flowering large-flowered larkspur falls on the second half of the summer period. For growth, the plant prefers open southern slopes, dry meadows, fallow lands, river valleys and steppes. Under natural conditions, this plant can be found on the territory of Altai, in the west of the Amur region in the Far East, as well as in the following regions of Eastern Siberia: in Daursky, Angara-Sayansky and Leno-Kolymsky. It is noteworthy that the plant is an insecticide, and is also decorative.

Description of the medicinal properties of large-flowered larkspur

Larkspur large-flowered is endowed with rather valuable healing properties, which is explained by the content of alkaloids, coumarins, flavonoids and tannins in the plant. Flavonoids and tannins are also present in the flowers of this plant.

As for traditional medicine, an infusion of the herb has become quite widespread here, which is recommended to be used for gastrointestinal diseases, dysentery, typhoid fever, jaundice, ringworm, diseases of the pancreas and eyes, as well as for infected wounds, gastroenteritis and pediculosis. The plant is endowed with antibacterial and hypotensive effects.

It should be noted that in China, the root of this plant was used in order to achieve a reduction in toothache. A decoction of the herb or an alcoholic extract of this plant is used to kill lice. It is important to remember that this plant is poisonous, for this reason, care should be taken when taking funds based on large-flowered larkspur. It is noteworthy that the plant can even cause poisoning of sheep and cattle in pastures. In case of animal poisoning, gastric lavage should be performed, and emetics and saline laxatives should be taken. In case of respiratory arrest, artificial respiration is recommended.

For gastroenteritis, an effective remedy based on this plant should be used: to prepare such a remedy, you will need to take twenty grams of dry crushed grass per liter of boiling water. The resulting mixture should be infused for one hour, and then this mixture is filtered very carefully. Such a remedy is taken on the basis of large-flowered larkspur one third of a glass or half a glass three to four times a day. It should be noted that such a remedy can be used not only for gastroenteritis, but also for pancreatitis and jaundice.
