Jasmine shrub is a perennial shrub, the height of which is about one to one and a half meters. Such a shrub is erect, it is endowed with flexible twig-shaped and angular-banded branches, painted in green tones. The final leaflet of this plant will be strongly narrowed and spatulate, the length of such a leaf will be about one to two centimeters, and the width will be equal to half a centimeter or one centimeter. All leaves of jasmine shrub along the edges are ciliated, on both sides they are naked, on top the leaves are painted in dark green tones, and below they are painted in slightly lighter tones. The flowers are located at the ends of the lateral branches in half-umbels of two to four pieces. The calyx of this plant will be shortly bell-shaped and endowed with long styloid lobes. The corolla of shrub jasmine is painted in bright yellow tones; it is endowed with a rather narrow cylindrical tube, the length of which is twice the calyx. The fruit of this plant is a berry whose diameter is even less than one centimeter.
Blossoming of shrub jasmine falls on the month of June. Under natural conditions, this plant can be found on the territory of all regions of the Caucasus, in the Gorno-Turkmen region of Central Asia and in the mountainous part of Crimea. For growth, this plant prefers thickets of shrubs, talus, dry gravelly slopes, rock crevices, as well as calcareous slopes. The plant grows in coniferous and oak forests. It is noteworthy that the plant is not only decorative, but also a rather valuable honey plant.
Description of the medicinal properties of shrub jasmine
The composition of shrub jasmine contains flavonoids, and the bark of this plant contains phenols and its derivative substance, syringoside, there are alkaloids in the bark and leaves, while the leaves contain ursolic acid. There are alkaloids in the flowers of this plant, and a fatty oil was found in the seeds.
It is noteworthy that in the experiment it was proved that the water extract of this plant is endowed with a rather high protistocidal activity. Also, in the experiment of extracting branches of young leaves and fruits, they have the ability to exhibit bactericidal activity.
For bronchitis and bronchial asthma, it is recommended to use the following property based on shrub jasmine: for its preparation, you should take one tablespoon of crushed dry young branches of this plant in one glass of water. The resulting mixture should be boiled over a fairly low heat for four to five minutes, and then this mixture is left to infuse for one hour, after which such a product is filtered very thoroughly. Take such a remedy based on this plant one to two tablespoons three times a day before the start of a meal. It should be noted that in order to achieve greater efficiency when taking such a remedy based on shrub jasmine, it is recommended that you strictly observe not only all the rules for preparing this remedy, but also carefully follow all the rules for its intake.
It is noteworthy that even in medieval Armenia, such a decoction was used to combat bronchial asthma and bronchitis.
