Brugmansia - this is a beautiful flower that pleases its owners throughout the summer with a lush fountain of flowers, which will be tubular-bell-shaped in shape.

Features of growing and caring for brugmansia

Small pots are categorically unsuitable for brugmansia: here the plant will suffer from constant drying out of the soil, which can be guessed by the drooping leaves of the plant. In the spring period, young plants should be transplanted into new pots, the diameter of which should be two to three centimeters larger than the previous ones. It is noteworthy that this tree-like shrub is sometimes also called angelic trumpets. For a plant, plastic pots are considered the most optimal, not earthen pots. This circumstance is easily explained by the fact that in plastic pots, the root system will grow evenly, and the thinnest roots are not able to grow to the walls of such a pot. It is recommended to make drainage holes in the bottom of the container to remove excess moisture.

Large amounts of moisture evaporate from the large leaves of brugmansia, and under the condition of strong gusts of wind, such leaves can break off. Actually, for this reason, you should choose a rather spacious tub for the plant, which will be able to mix in a large amount of water and will have sufficient stability.

In summer, brugmansia is recommended to be planted in the garden in open ground. This method will provide a more even water supply. But before the onset of frost, the plant should be dug up and transplanted into a tub. It is important to remember that such constant digging of roots is not capable of causing any harm to the plant.

In the spring, it is recommended to move the plant to a rather shady place for a while: this is done so that later brugmansia can easily get used to the intense sunlight.

So, as already mentioned, brugmansia needs a very large amount of water. In summer, the plant should be watered at least once a day, and in especially hot weather, an increase in the number of waterings will be the best solution. Watering should be completed only when excess water begins to come out through the drainage holes and drain into the sump.

Brugmansia belongs to the nightshade family, it is for this reason that the plant needs a constant supply of nutrients. In addition, abundant feeding also contributes to the fact that the plant will bloom for a long time and very profusely. In the spring, during transplantation, fertilizer should be applied to fresh soil, which will have a long-lasting effect. As for the period from May to August, at this time it is necessary to feed the plant once or twice a week with the help of a liquid fertilizer intended for flowering plants. This fertilizer must be added to the water when watering the plant. It is also important to remember that brugmansia cannot be oversaturated with fertilizers. However, already in August, no top dressing is allowed, otherwise the growth of the plant will be suspended, and its shoots can become lignified.

With regard to pruning, this procedure is not required at the moment when the plant is in the open air. In the winter period, when the plant is in the apartment, shoots appear, supplied with leaves of pale green shades. These shoots must be shortened in the spring. In the event that the pruning was carried out in the fall, then immediately after that, you should not transfer the plant to the room. It is recommended to leave the brugmansia in a warm place outdoors for at least a few days: this is done so that fresh sections have the opportunity to dry out.
