Bog is the only genus of plants that belong to the family called marsh. In total, there are about seventeen species of such a plant, which are found in areas with a temperate climate.

Description of the plant

The bogweed is a small plant that is endowed with branched, rooting stems. It should be noted that this plant can differ in different life expectancy, everything is directly dependent on both the species and the growing conditions of the bog. Reproduction of this plant can occur not only with the help of seeds, but also through division. This plant can grow both on land and in water. Those plants that grow on land are creeping, they have rather narrow leaves. As for aquatic plants, their leaves are quite thin and light, these leaves can be endowed with extended ends. However, the flowers of the bog are extremely nondescript.

As for the more decorative species, here it is necessary to highlight the common marsh or marsh marsh, sometimes this plant is also called a water asterisk. When this plant is on the surface, then its shoots of elliptical leaves are very similar in shape to an asterisk: they will be concave funnels. Thickets of such an annual plant have shoots, the length of which will be about three to twenty centimeters. Opposite leaves are located along the entire length of such shoots. Those leaves that are in the water column are rather narrow and linear, they also have rather long internodes. To the top of the shoot, internodes are very noticeably shortened, the leaves of this plant themselves are clothed in spatulate forms and form a rosette. Actually, thanks to the presence of such a rosette, the plant acquires a very decorative appearance.

A less spectacular plant can be called a short-fruited bog or changeable. This type of plant is endowed with smaller leaves, as well as medium-sized apical rosettes. If this plant is buried too deep, then its underwater form will not rise to the surface. The underwater leaves of such a variable bog will be linear, in addition to this, the plant is also able to form a terrestrial form. These types of plants are quite often used in landscaping various reservoirs.

Description of the features of care

It is worth noting that sometimes this plant can live even on waterlogged soil. However, standing water or slow flowing water will be most preferred. Swamp occurs in areas that are flooded from time to time.

The plant should be planted directly in the ground of the reservoir, and it is also permissible to put the plants in the ground directly in the container. With a shallow planting, the plant will be especially decorative, and with a deep planting, the leaves of the plant may remain under water. The soil can be any, and it is recommended to choose places either sunny or in partial shade.

It is noteworthy that the plant can be transferred to an artificial reservoir from a natural reservoir. To do this, you need to take only a small part of the mother bush. Those specimens that are transplanted should be carefully examined and washed carefully. This is done in order to get rid of unwanted snails or insect larvae. To plant a plant, several shoots should be tied together, and a stone should be tied to their base, then all this is lowered into the water. If the plant has grown too much, then its thinning is available with the help of a net.

Actually, the swamp is an unpretentious plant to care for; to grow it, you will only have to shade the surface a little and from time to time thin out the planting of this plant.
