Dendrobium is one of the plants in the family called Orchidaceae. In Latin, the name of this plant sounds like this: Dendrobium. As for the name of the family itself, it will be like this in Latin: Orchidaceae.

Features of growing dendrobium

Dendrobium for favorable development will need to provide the following light regime: constant partial shade. In the summer, the plant must be watered abundantly, and the air humidity for growing this plant should also be medium. The life form of dendrobium is epiphyte.

Dendrobium is recommended to be grown either in greenhouses or in rather cool conservatories. It is important to remember that in such rooms it should be possible to regulate the growing temperature. It is noteworthy that, provided that the plant is grown under cultural conditions, the maximum height of the dendrobium can be about sixty centimeters. In fact, this plant is quite unassuming to care for. Dendrobium transplantation will be required only as decomposition or compaction of the substrate occurs. It is also important to remember that you should protect the roots of this plant as carefully as possible during transplantation and in every possible way protect them from the slightest possible damage.

As for the soil composition, you will need to take two parts of fern roots and one part of sphagnum, and also add charcoal to such a mixture. However, sometimes replacing fern roots is also permissible: instead of them, you can use pieces of pine bark and dry leaves. In this case, the size of pieces of pine bark should be about half a centimeter and one and a half centimeters. If we talk about the necessary acidity of the soil, then it can be both slightly acidic and acidic. It should be remembered that if the temperature of growing dendrobium turns out to be too high and this circumstance occurs during the dormant period, then subsequently the plant may not bloom. For this reason, the plant develops quite well in indoor conditions, but its flowering is extremely rare.

During the dormant period, the optimum temperature for growing this plant will be between ten and fifteen degrees of heat. Throughout the entire dormant period, rather rare watering of the plant should be ensured, and the air humidity should be moderate. The resting period of dendrobium occurs in the autumn and winter seasons.

Reproduction of dendrobium can occur both by sowing seeds and by dividing when planting. As for sowing seeds, this method is chosen much less often. In order for the buds to be laid, it will be necessary to provide the plant with a cold winter: this is especially true at night. Dendrobium leaves and flowers are distinguished by decorative properties.

The leaves of the plant are sessile and lanceolate, as well as leathery. Dendrobium leaves are painted in green tones, they are located on an elongated stem-shaped bulb, while such leaves are arranged in succession and in several pieces. The flowering of the plant occurs during the period from winter to spring. Dendrobium flowers can be colored both white and yellow and pink. The flowers are classic orchid flowers in shape, their gamut is predominantly pinkish-lilac, in diameter, the length of such leaves is about seven to eight centimeters. On axillary peduncles there are about two or three flowers. It is worth noting that the development of short peduncles occurs both on last year's and biennial shoots that are not endowed with leaves.

Subject to all growing standards, this amazingly beautiful plant will delight its owner with its beautiful appearance for a long time.
