Avens is a perennial plant. However, in regions with very cold winters, this plant acts as an annual crop.

Description of gravilat

The gravilata flowers reach about four centimeters in diameter. It is noteworthy that the flowers can be either red and orange or yellow in color. In addition, some gravilata varieties are endowed with double flowers. As for the height of this plant, depending on the variety, this value can fluctuate between fifteen and seventy centimeters. This plant is especially valuable for its highly decorative and long-lasting flowering. Gravilata flowers look great in a variety of bouquets, including wedding bouquets.

Features of the care and cultivation of gravilat

It should be noted that gravilat belongs to light-loving plants, for this reason, sunny areas are preferable for plant growth. As for the soil, the best option for the favorable cultivation of gravilat will be drained and fertile soils, which will also be loamy and rather moist. The plant should be watered regularly; the soil should not be allowed to dry out in any case. Nevertheless, we must not forget that an excess of moisture can have an extremely negative effect on the health of the gravilat.

It is recommended to regularly and promptly remove those plant flowers that have already bloomed. This is done in order to maintain the pleasant appearance of the plant, as well as to extend the flowering period of the gravilat. Excessive thickening of plantings should not be allowed: every year it will be necessary to divide the bush. In the event that the plantings become too dense, the gravilat will lose its decorative effect. It is noteworthy that the plant does not need mineral fertilizers. However, in the event that you grow gravilat on very poor soils, then mineral fertilizing must be performed twice a month throughout the entire flowering period of the plant. As for organic fertilizers such as compost and humus, they should be applied at planting.

Young bushes in the first year of life should be covered for the winter with spruce branches or dry fallen leaves, but adult plants will no longer need shelter. Nevertheless, in some cases, shelter will be necessary for adult plants, hybrid varieties and those varieties that are endowed with double forms: such varieties have an extremely low degree of resistance to possible frost.

Plant propagation

Gravilat can multiply both by seeds and by dividing the bush. It is noteworthy that gravilat seeds should be planted directly into open ground. It is recommended to do this in the spring or autumn, but the soil should warm up enough. At the same time, gravilat can be grown by means of seedlings. If you choose this method of plant propagation, then you will need to sow the seeds in the middle of April: for this, choose a moist and loose substrate. Then the seeds should be germinated under glass in a sufficiently lit place. After the last frost is over, the seedlings can be planted in open ground. When choosing this option for reproduction by means of seeds, the plant will begin to bloom in the second year of its life.

As for reproduction by dividing the bush, such procedures should be performed every year in the spring or in the autumn period. Each section of the gravilat must have a part of the rhizome. Delenki must be planted in a non-permanent place and deepened to a constant depth. It is recommended to add ash and humus to the soil intended for the plant. The distance between the landings of the gravilat should be about thirty to forty centimeters.
