Gnafalium It is also known under the name of the sushi. Such a plant is a perennial plant; among gardeners, woolly gnaphalium is considered more common.

This flower is especially prized for its amazingly beautiful silvery colored leaves. It is noteworthy that the shoots of this plant in length can reach about fifty centimeters. In addition, there are also annual types of gnafalium. These species include the blooming Siberian caddie, purely outwardly, the flowers of this plant are very reminiscent of edelweiss flowers.

Gnafalium care and cultivation

Gnafalium or dried crushed milk is a rather unpretentious plant to care for. However, for a more favorable development of this plant, you will need to choose sunny areas. At the same time, gnafalium can develop well on loose, fertile and well-drained soils. In the event that you grow a plant indoors, it is recommended to prepare the following substrate: a mixture of sod and leafy soil, humus and sand. The pots should be shallow, because the gnafalium is endowed with a fairly small root system. It is noteworthy that for the most favorable development of this plant, it will be necessary to lay drainage at the bottom of the pot.

In the event that you grow gnafalia on not particularly fertile soils or in pots, you will need to apply fertilizer. The role of such fertilizers should be complex mineral fertilizers, which should be applied during both the summer and spring periods of time once a month.

The plant should be given moderate watering: each subsequent watering should be done only after the soil has completely dried out. The plant can go without watering for quite a long time: sometimes it will be enough just to water the gnafalia on especially hot and dry days. In order to maintain the shape of this plant, you will need to make regular haircuts. After shearing, this plant will recover pretty quickly. For the winter period of time, planting with gnafalia will need to be covered with dry foliage. In those regions where there is a rather warm climate, such a shelter for the winter will not be required.

Reproduction of gnafalium

Reproduction of gnafalium occurs through both seeds and cuttings. It is noteworthy that this plant is capable of multiplying independently, which will occur due to creeping shoots. These shoots will take root where they come into contact with the ground. In addition, gnafalium is able to reproduce through self-seeding.

Gnafalium cuttings are cut in the month of March, for which in the autumn period the bushes should be transplanted into pots. It is recommended to keep such pots all winter at a temperature of about seven to ten degrees Celsius. For pots, it is recommended to choose dry and light places. Watering such plants should also be done as the soil dries up. The cuttings must be rooted in a substrate that is loose and nutritious. Watering the cuttings will be required as needed, but the soil temperature should be about eighteen to twenty-two degrees Celsius. After the rooting of the cuttings takes place, they will need to be transplanted into separate pots, which will be of a small volume. Already in late May and early June, it will be necessary to plant the plants in open ground, while the distance between them should be about five to ten centimeters.

The plant is distinguished by a fairly strong resistance to the appearance of various diseases and attacks of pests. However, at the same time, due to very abundant watering, rotting of the roots of the gnaphalium can occur.
