Description
The bindweed boasts a huge variety of life forms - it can be both a shrub and a grass, both an annual and a perennial. The stems of the bindweed are usually creeping or erect, and their length can reach four meters. The creeping rhizomes of this plant are equipped with numerous filamentous roots. And whole simple alternately located petiole leaves of bindweed can be cordate or arrow-shaped, as well as serrated or lobed.
Bindweed flowers usually open in the early morning. All of them are collected in graceful inflorescences or are placed in the sinuses one by one or three pieces. The corolla of the flowers are equipped with slightly pronounced lobes and can be either funnel-shaped or bell-shaped. And the fruits of this plant are bizarre boxes generously filled with seeds, while bindweed seeds do not lose their germination for two to three years.

Bindweed has many different species, but it also has especially popular varieties that are most common.
Bindweed tricolor is a herbaceous densely branched annual with pubescent, rising and creeping stems. Its sessile, whole-edged leaves boast a linear-lanceolate shape, slightly pointed and have a dull green color. Moreover, they can be both rough and naked. And the diameter of the axillary flowers reaches four centimeters. All flowers are characterized by their usual funnel-shaped shape and are located on short stalks. The bends of the corollas are always bright blue, the throat is yellow, and the middle parts are white. As for the color of the flowers, it can be blue, purple, as well as white, pink or purple-blue.
Bindweed two-peaked endowed with rising recumbent and slightly curly pubescent or bare stems, the length of which varies from thirty to forty centimeters. Arrow-shaped leaves of this plant are located on petioles reaching from three to seven centimeters in length, and single pink flowers sit on rather long peduncles.
Bindweed moorishIdeal for hanging containers or baskets, it boasts shoots covered with delicate grayish-greenish leaves, the length of which often reaches half a meter. And the flowers of this variety, in most cases, are painted in a delicate light lilac color.
Growing and caring
The most important component of competent care of the bindweed is watering - they should be not only sufficient, but also regular. Lack of moisture often leads to dropping of the buds, however, excessive moisture will also not bring absolutely any benefit to the bindweed. In the most ordinary summer, which is characterized by a normal amount of precipitation, you can not worry about the condition of this plant, but in hot dry weather it must be provided with proper watering.
In general, caring for this plant does not present absolutely any difficulties: you need to weed it only after planting - when the plant gets stronger, the weeds will not be afraid of it.
Quite often, the cultivation of bindweed requires the establishment of supports - in this situation, the sooner they are installed, the better. If the plant begins to spread excessively, it is quite acceptable to carry out its partial pruning.
There is absolutely no need to add fertilizing and remove wilted flowers, however, if it seems that the bindweed does not bloom well or does not grow very quickly, you can feed it with the following composition: dissolve Nitrofoska and Agricola in a tablespoon of Nitrofoski and Agricola in ten liters of water. For each square meter of planting, two and a half or three liters of such a solution are consumed. It is not forbidden to introduce wood ash under the bushes.
Diseases and pests
Bindweed is extremely rarely affected by various diseases, and pests also almost never attack it. Occasionally, powdery mildew may appear on a given plant, which will not be difficult to cope with with the help of a Bordeaux mixture or some other fungicides. And if the bindweed is attacked by aphids, then such means as Aktara, Antitlin or Aktellik will come to the rescue.
