Description of black crowberry

This plant is a small, low and evergreen creeping shrub, the stems of which will be branched and dark brown spread, their length can be from twenty centimeters to one meter. The leaves will be rather small, linear-oblong, and their edges are curled down, and the leaves themselves are loosely arranged. Crowberry black flowers are unisexual, they can be either pink or dark red, these flowers will have three petals. The fruit is a spherical bluish-black sour berry, with a diameter of about five millimeters. This plant has spread throughout the entire territory of the Urals, Western and Eastern Siberia, Altai, the European part of Russia, Belarus, as well as also in the western regions of Ukraine. For growth, this plant prefers coniferous forests, rocks, swamps and tundra.
Description of the medicinal properties of black crowberry
This plant contains anthraquinones, polysaccharides, oxycoumarins, essential oil, tannins, sesquiterpene lactones, pectins, sugar, resins, paraffins, carotene, vitamin C, benzoic and acetic acids, a trace element manganese, as well as the following flavanoids: avicularin, quercetin, rutin, isoquercetin, hyperoiside and kaempferol. As for the fruits of this plant, essential oil, arabinose, glucose, sugar, saponins, fructose, coumarin, fatty oil, wax, tannins and triterpenoids were found here.
For medicinal purposes, the fruits and the ground part of this plant are most often used, and sometimes the roots of the black crowberry are also used. It is noteworthy that the fruits should be harvested in their ripe state, starting from about September, and the branches of this plant should be harvested during the flowering of the black crowberry.
Preparations based on black crowberry have the ability to increase the resistance of tissues to damaging influences, and also accelerate the restoration of their functions. Such drugs are also endowed with anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic effects.
As for traditional medicine, here this plant is known as a remedy that has a calming effect on the nervous system, and also such a remedy will also have choleretic, anticonvulsant, phytoncidal and hypotensive effects. This remedy is used for hypertension, insomnia, nervous disorders and headaches. Among other things, such a remedy has become quite widespread for the treatment of epilepsy and other convulsive conditions, and also this remedy is used as a tonic and antiscorbutic, and in case of headaches, such a remedy helps against overwork. At the same time, in Tibetan medicine, black crowberry is used to treat inflammatory kidney diseases and anthrax.
With neuroses, insomnia and hypertension, it is recommended to prepare the following remedy: take fifteen grams of dry crushed twigs with black crowberry leaves in one glass of water. Such a mixture should be boiled for six to seven minutes, and then such a mixture should be infused for about an hour or two, after which the mixture is thoroughly filtered. This remedy should be taken one fourth of a glass before meals, three times a day.
