The following cardeloids were found in the seeds of nocturnal: erizimine and corhoroside, as well as a rather fatty oil, hesperalin and alkaloids. In addition, nocturnal contains steroids such as cholesterol, brassicasterol, beta-sitosterol and campesterol.
A decoction made from seeds and herbs has a beneficial effect on rheumatism and gout. Among other things, such a decoction is also used in folk veterinary medicine. The infusion and decoction of this herb is also used as a diaphoretic and even a diuretic. Also, such infusions and decoctions are also effective for cataracts of the upper respiratory tract. It is noteworthy that the alcoholic extract of nocturnal leaves is also characterized by a rather high degree of antibacterial activity.
Among other things, the essential oil of this plant, with a certain degree of organoleptic evaluation, is characterized by a rather high distribution in perfumery, and in soap making, the fatty oil of nocturnal seeds is used.
For gout and rheumatism, it is recommended to take two tablespoons of the decoction of this plant three times a day. For preparation, it is recommended to take one teaspoon of seeds in one glass of water, the resulting mixture is boiled for about six to seven minutes, and then left to infuse for two hours. Subsequently, such a mixture is filtered and you can already use it.
For gout, rheumatism and catarrh of the upper respiratory tract, it is recommended to use a decoction of this plant as a diuretic and diaphoretic. For cooking, you need to take two tablespoons of chopped dry vechinaceous herb for about a glass of boiling water. This mixture is infused for two hours and then filtered. Take this mixture one at a time or two glasses three times a day.
