Loosestrife sometimes also called lysimachia. This plant should be classified as perennial. In nature, there can be separate species with both erect and creeping shoots. The flower itself is characterized by a special endurance, as well as a very spectacular flowering. The loosestrife grows rather quickly and at the same time remains unpretentious in cultivation. It is noteworthy that some species of this flower also have valuable medicinal properties.

The most popular types of this plant are, first of all, the dotted loosestrife. Such a loosestrife will belong to perennial plants, and in height will reach about sixty centimeters. The dotted loosestrife is endowed with inflorescences painted in light yellow shades, and the plant will bloom in June and will last until the end of July. Verbeynik ephemerum in height will already reach almost a meter, namely ninety centimeters. As for the crowded-flowered loosestrife, this plant will not exceed about forty centimeters in height, and its flowers will be painted in yellow tones and collected in a kind of umbrellas. The purple loaf is a perennial plant that will be approximately ninety centimeters tall. The inflorescences of such a loosestrife are collected in an ear, and the flowers are mainly painted in shades of dark tones. Looseweed is a perennial plant that will not exceed thirty centimeters in height, and its flowers will be painted in juicy yellow tones.

Care and cultivation of loosestrife

As already mentioned, the loosestrife is distinguished by its particular unpretentiousness in care. However, many types of loosestrife are best suited for sunny areas, while some varieties of this plant grow better in a slight darkening. Of course, regardless of the variety, all loosestrife will be undemanding in relation to the soil, but moist soils are considered the most preferable for this plant. As you might guess, this plant will need very abundant and regular watering. There is no need for feeding for this plant, however, when the loosestrife is grown on very poor soils, fertilizers should be added from time to time. As for the fertilizers themselves, the flower must be fed with the help of complex mineral fertilizers. This should be done approximately every two weeks during the period from May to July.

In the autumn period, the stalks of the loosestrife should be cut right down to the very base. However, this does not apply to the moneta loosestrife, the stems of which are not recommended to be cut in any case. The verbeynik is very resistant to possible cold weather, it is for this reason that there is no need to cover the plant for the winter period.

Reproduction of loosestrife

Verbeynik can reproduce by dividing rhizomes, lateral shoots, cuttings, and also seeds. In the event that you choose seed reproduction, then the plant will bloom only a year or two after the sowing has been carried out. Seeds should be planted in the spring or autumn period of time, while it is necessary to plant them immediately in open ground and in the place where the plant will grow constantly. In order to get seedlings, the seeds must be sown in March or April. For germination of seeds, a temperature regime of eighteen to twenty-two degrees is required. Already in May, the loosestrife should be planted in open ground, while the distance between individual plants should be about fifteen to twenty centimeters.

As for the reproduction of loosestrife by dividing the rhizomes, this should be done in the spring, until the plant begins its active growth. It is also permissible to divide the rhizomes in the fall, it is best to do this in September.
