Artsevtobium juniper belongs to a family called belts. The Latin name for this family is as follows: Loranthaceae Juss. Actually, it should be noted that Artsevtobium is a genus of semi-parasitic shrubs and grasses. Sometimes this plant belongs to the family called Santalaceae, while previously the plant was considered part of the mistletoe family. In science, there is a synonym for the name of this plant, which sounds like this: Razoumofskya Hoffm. Among the people, Artsevtobium juniper is sometimes also called a juniper.

There are only three types of this plant. The first type is called artsevtobium American, the second type is simply called artsevtobium or dwarf mistletoe, and the third type is just called artsevtobium juniper. It is worth noting that the third type is the most common in nature.

Artsevtobium juniper is a rather small shrub, the height of which ranges from twenty to thirty centimeters. This plant itself is naked, its branches are compressed and articulated. The leaves of this plant are small in size. Artsevtobium has single flowers in the axils of the leaves, which will be unisexual and dioecious. Stamen flowers have two to five separate limbs. The flowers themselves are pistillate and endowed with a bipartite perianth. In addition, there is also a false fruit, which looks very much like a berry. The fruit itself is bluish and ovoid in color. The branches of the plant are woody, and the leaves themselves are rather small and scaly, as well as sitting in pairs.

Under natural conditions, this plant can be found in the Crimea, as well as in the Caucasus and Central Asia. This plant in nature parasitizes on the roots of junipers, which actually explains the name of this plant. In nature, Artsevtobium juniper grows at an altitude of about two to two and a half thousand meters above sea level. As for Central Asia, this plant is found only in the mountains, and juniper artsevtobium can also be found on the territory of Turkish Armenia, Kurdistan, Iran, the Himalayas and the Balkan Peninsula. Also, this plant also grows in the southern territories of Central Europe.

Healing properties of Artsevtobium juniper

Artsevtobium juniper has unique medicinal properties. It is noteworthy that the stems and leaves of this plant are used for medicinal purposes. Such valuable properties of Artsevtobium juniper are explained by the content of saponin, alkaloids, as well as flavonoids in the form of myricetin and quercetin in the composition of this plant. Also, this plant contains the following actocyanins: delphinidins and cyanidins, and besides this, there are also leukoanthocyanins.

This plant is endowed with proteocidal properties. The water extract of this plant is believed to cause instant suspension and even death of the ciliates. A decoction of the leaves and stems of Artsevtobium juniper is very often used as an anticonvulsant, while the fruit powder is sometimes also used for abscesses of varying degrees of complexity.

In order to prepare a decoction of arcevtobium juniper, as an anticonvulsant, you will need to take one tablespoon of crushed dry stems and leaves of a plant in one glass of water. The resulting mixture should be boiled for five minutes, then leave to infuse for one hour, and then strain this broth. It is recommended to take this broth one or two tablespoons two or three times a day.
