New technologies allow summer residents to replace traditional materials with modern, easier-to-use ones. Instead of heavy fittings, reinforced fiberglass is used, which greatly simplifies the work. What is the advantage of the new substance?

Advantages

Fiberglass composite rebar is superior to a similar iron element in several respects:

1. Has greater strength (3-4 times).

2. Wide scope of application.

3. Durability (service life according to manufacturers' statements is 80-100 years).

4. The mode of application varies in temperature from +100 to -70 degrees.

5. Does not interact with acids, alkalis, high humidity.

6. There is no oxidative corrosion inside the structure.

7. Expansion rate at the concrete level, prevents cracking of the foundation when correctly calculated.

8. Gathers into complex structures without welding.

9. Has dielectric properties.

10. Large selection of diameters from 4 to 18 mm.

11. Low weight, volume, convenient footage (thickness up to 12 mm is supplied in coils).

12. Conveniently transported on the trunk of a car, taking up little space. One person is enough to carry 2-3 rolls.

Each summer resident who has tried fiberglass fittings will add several points to the list, based on personal experience.

Scope of use

The fields of application of the new material are versatile. They cover almost all areas of activity.

In construction, it will replace iron reinforcement for floor screed, erection of walls of outbuildings, pouring foundations, blind areas. Serves as a frame for light structures: a summer shower, a shed, a temporary storage area for tools.

The gardener will be replaced by wooden arches in the greenhouse, pegs for tying bushes, vegetables, arches for climbing plants. Retains soil backfill when forming terraces on slopes.

Cutting, fastening

Thin fittings (up to 8 mm) are cut with metal scissors. With a larger diameter, use a hacksaw or "grinder". They give an even cut without chipping.

Plastic clamps with a locking mechanism will help to connect the individual elements into the frame. Fix the wires as tightly as possible to each other, avoiding free sliding of the surfaces.

Safety engineering

Small glass rods that are part of the armature can get under the skin, causing pain. Therefore, before work, they protect the open surfaces of the body as much as possible with gloves, trousers, a jacket with sleeves, and glasses. A respirator will prevent dust particles from entering the lungs when cutting.

Coils with wire are unwound by 2 people, holding the elastic material with the help of arms and legs from spontaneous release. In turn, they intercept the reinforcement in different places, rolling the winding with a "wheel" over the surface. The remains are fixed with a strong iron wire.

Practical advice

1. Particles of fiberglass during operation during the wind rub against the surface of the film on greenhouses. To extend the service life of the covering material, preliminary winding of each arc with a cloth cut into strips 4-5 cm wide, fixed on top with adhesive tape, will help. The winding is done in a spiral, leaving the ends of the wire (in places of contact with the ground) open. When using different diameters of the reinforcement, it is advisable to mark the arcs with multi-colored electrical tape, where each shade indicates the number of the material. For example, green is 8mm, yellow is 10mm, red is 12mm.

2. At the edges of the beds, thick arcs are placed for better shape retention. The middle is filled with thinner specimens. With a sufficient amount, a frame with different diameters is alternated along the entire length of the greenhouse.

3. For bushes, the upper ring is put on a braid made of old, worn out, hoses or wheel tires from bicycles. Vertical "sticks" stuck into the ground are left without winding.
