Pansies - these are amazingly beautiful flowers that should be attributed to the violet family. It is these flowers that are considered one of the most common early spring flowers, and they are also characterized by a long flowering period. The color of these flowers can be absolutely any, which in no small measure contributes to the steady growth of the popularity of these plants.

Actually, with proper care, these flowers can delight their owners with their amazingly beautiful flowering all year round. However, spring and early summer are considered the best times to bloom. When the heat hits, the pansies can die.

There are many varieties of pansies, sometimes even the most notorious gardeners find it very difficult to distinguish one variety from another. Therefore, there are also the following divisions of pansies: into one-color and two-color, into three-color, into variegated, into corrugated, into the so-called orchid flowers, when the flower petals have an asymmetric addition. Of course, there are many other divisions that allow you not to get confused in the abundance of varieties of pansies.

However, all varieties can be divided into two largest groups: gigantic and large-flowered. As for the large-flowered varieties, all these pansies are characterized by spots on the petals. Actually, most often, such flowers are chosen for numerous flower beds, where each individual element should look very advantageous. For growing on balconies, corrugated petals from pansies are very often chosen, which are characterized by rather high endurance and are able to grow quickly.

As for the gigantic pansies, there is a very wide selection of varieties. Oddly enough, the largest flowers are noted in a variety called gigantic, a very low rosette of leaves is formed here. Flowers of this variety bloom early, and also have increased endurance.

Growing and caring for pansies

It is worth noting that sowing too early can weaken the plants, and after that smaller flowers will appear next spring. Therefore, the month of August is considered the optimal planting date. It is recommended to plant flowers at the rate of forty plants per square meter of area.

Sowing plants directly into open ground is also allowed. To do this, you need to leave the seedlings overwinter in the beds, and in early spring they should be planted in a flower garden. However, those flowers that were planted in the autumn period of time bloom for a longer period, in contrast to those that were sown in the spring.

As for the annual crop, such plants are recommended by professionals to be planted in March. They should be dived into a cold greenhouse in April, and already in the flower beds themselves, they can be planted in May. It is also important to note that in the case of spring sowing of seeds, you will have flowering plants for quite a long time, and their flowering period will last until autumn. However, the size of the flowers themselves and their number will be significantly inferior to all other plants planted in other periods of time.

It is important to remember that the soil intended for these flowers should not be overly dry. The best option is moist soil. In the event that the composition of the soil in the area intended for pansies is rather poor, then it is strongly recommended to prepare the soil in advance. Fertilization with compost or humus will work, but manure should not be used in this role.

It is also important to remember that the gigantic varieties of pansies are more whimsical to care for. Dry and nutrient-poor soil will adversely affect the development of such plants.
